Russia dismantles Steve Jobs memorial as ‘gay propaganda’ after Apple’s Tim Cook comes out

Moscow: A memorial to Apple founder Steve Jobs has been dismantled in the Russian city of St Petersburg after the man who succeeded him at the helm of the company, Tim Cook, came out as gay.
The two-metre-high monument, in the shape of an iPhone, was erected outside a St Petersburg college in January 2013 by a Russian group of companies called ZEFS.
Citing the need to abide by a law combating “gay propaganda”, ZEFS said in a statement on Monday that the memorial had been removed on Friday – the day after Mr Cook, Apple’s chief executive, announced he is homosexual.

Australian Bureau of Statistics credits Apple’s iPhone 6 for stoking retail surge

Following an anemic 0.1 percent rise in August, Australia’s Bureau of Statistics reported that retail turnover lept to 1.2 percent growth in September, crediting Apple’s iPhone 6 launch for driving the unexpected growth.
This story follows on from last week when US Treasury also credited retail growth on Apples iPhone.

Sketchy Report Claims Apple May Discontinue iPad Mini to Focus on ‘iPad Pro’

Apple may be planning to discontinue its iPad mini lineup in order to focus its efforts on the upcoming larger-screened “iPad Pro,” according to a somewhat questionable rumor from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News. The site believes Apple will cease updating the 7.9-inch iPad mini next year, making the new iPad mini 3, released in October, the last tablet in the series.

A preference towards larger screen sizes, the introduction of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, declining iPad sales, and “fierce competition” in the tablet market are said to have led to Apple’s alleged decision to discontinue the tablet.

This Weeks D’OH Tip

Which finally arrived in proper working order with the releases of iOS 8.1 & OS X Yosemite 10.10

Is awesome. Remember the days when we would bluetooth into our photos on our phone.

Well now just select your photo, share, select who with and bang there.

I share 3-5 full size photos (4-5 times a day) to my mac and it takes about 1 second per photo. This is when I can’t be on the same network with iPhone and computer.

Developers still under siege

Apple have seeded new builds of:

OS 10.10.1 Yosemite
iOS 8.1.1
to developers today. This marks the first time in recent history that Apple is seeding a beta for a patch update for iOS
That should keep everyone busy!
