Our Aussie Apple Ramblings

Story 1

ACCC and Apple are in the news again

As I wrote on Aussie Mac Zones Apple News Channel and our Facebook groups

The ACCC has suggested that it is incorrect for Apple not to accept units for repair  AFTER  a third party has say, changed a iPhone display.

I had my rant in my posts, so Garth your thoughts?

Story 2

With the recent Apple iOS update we can now get Apple’s new app Clips

It is an awful lot of fun.

Can I suggest watching the 9to5Mac video on how to use it as learning the basics first will greatly enhance the experience.

Word of warning it is a 64 bit app so iPhone 5S or newer.  That also means that the iPhone 5 won’t work on many more iOS updates either..

Story 3

Adobe updates Illustrator CC and InDesign CC with new features

Thursday Adobe issued updates for Illustrator CC and InDesign CC, introducing new features and user interface improvements to the professional design software.

So why am I mentioning this. Because Illustrator is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

This Weeks Discussion

Apple has announced to a special group of, I think it was 5 Journalists, that the Mac Pro ISN’T dead

Phil Schiller and Apple admitted that the current Mac Pro had not been well received by many pros and this along with thermal issues had lead to a rethink of the design

Apple bet on the future being multiple GPUs parallel processing but the industry went back to BIG GPUs. And thunderbolt peripherals handling expansion has also not gone according to plan.

Phil Schiller has said the new, new Mac Pro due in 2018 will be, by definition, a modular design

Apple also pre-announced that it will be doing its own displays again in 2018

This may in part be due to the LG ultra fine multiple fiascos

Remember the “not to close to router interference issues” and late delivery issues

(how to Favourite)

How To 1

iPhone level

  • open Compass app
  • swipe right to left
  • now no excuse for the picture not being level
  • just a reminder some cases have a rise were the volume buttons are for example

How To 2

Enter Split View

  • Hold down the full-screen button   in the upper-left corner of a window. (the green dot)
  • As you hold the button, the window shrinks and you can drag it to the left or right side of the screen.
  • Release the button, then click another window to begin using both windows side by side.

How To 3 – this weeks email

I have a iPhone 5s and the app store won’t show me an app update I know is there, help!  Do I have to restart?

No you don’t have to reboot your iDevice

  • Tap on an icon, say Search or Updates in the app, store 10 times
